Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage combines traditional Swedish massage techniques (flowing strokes, kneading, compression) with stretching and specific, targeted work on areas of adhesion and tension. Therapeutic massage promotes overall wellness and relaxation, helping to increase mobility and circulation, and reducing stress and anxiety.
The speed and strength applied by the therapist can vary greatly depending on what the client's goals and challenges are. The massage therapist will check in about pressure, aiming to stay within the client's tolerance. Although some people believe "no pain, no gain," we have found that being in a comfortable "it hurts, but in a good way" is the most beneficial zone.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage aims to breakdown adhesions in the tissue, restoring healthy circulation and mobility. Similar to therapeutic massage, but performed more slowly, with increasing pressure to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, deep tissue work can decrease muscle tension, and relieve pain throughout the entire body. It is especially helpful for those who suffer from osteoarthritis, acute injury, chronic pain, limited mobility, repetitive stress injuries and fibromyalgia. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific musculoskeletal problem. We advise 50 minutes for a focused treatment, and 80 minutes if you'd like a full body treatment.
Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy massage can help with the fatigue, emotions, and aches that may accompany you during the prenatal and postpartum periods of your pregnancy. We use pillows to help you get into comfortable, supported side-lying or supine (face up) positions, then use a combination of relaxing Swedish and targeted therapeutic techniques to alleviate pain and swelling, reduce stress, and generally give you a chance to connect with your changing body.

Massage FAQs
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A MASSAGE SESSION?
You should plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early to complete a 3-page health history (this is also available under the "New Patients" page of our website). The massage therapist will review your health history and interview you about what's bringing you in, your goals for the session, your previous experience with massage, any areas you'd like focus on, and any areas you want to avoid having work on (such as head, face, pecs, glutes, or feet, or any areas with broken skin or injuries).
The therapist will invite you to undress to your level of comfort (most people undress completely or leave their underpants on, but you should leave on any items of clothing that help you feel most comfortable); necklaces, bracelets, and dangly earrings should be removed. The therapist will leave the room to wash their hands and allow you time to get onto the massage table underneath the sheet. They will knock before re-entering the room, and make sure that the face cradle and ankle bolster are comfortably positioned.
During the treatment, the therapist removes the sheet for the area they are working on, otherwise, you remain covered. You should speak up if the pressure is too light or too deep, if anything is uncomfortable, or if you need any other modifications (adding or removing a blanket, turning the table warmer on or off, adding additional support under the shoulders, hips, or ankles, etc).
At the conclusion of your session, the massage therapist will brighten the lights and leave the room to allow you to dress. They will meet you at either the front or back desk to discuss your session and make self care suggestions. If you choose to tip your massage therapist, please note that you will need to do so either by Venmo or cash; we do not have tipping capabilities on our credit card terminal.
Suggesting or requesting anything other than professional massage therapy will result in immediate termination of your session with no refund and a phone call to law enforcement. We have a zero tolerance policy.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RECEIVE MASSAGE?
We generally recommend a minimum of monthly massage for maintenance, but frequency depends on many factors including time, finances, and how troublesome your particular complaint is.
ARE THERE TIMES WHEN I SHOULD NOT GET A MASSAGE?
Please do not come in if you have:
-- a fever
-- vomiting or diarrhea
-- if you have been consuming alcohol or other drugs
-- a contagious skin or eye infection
If you choose to come in while exhibiting any symptoms of respiratory infection, we request that you wear a mask for the duration of your treatment.
If you find yourself (or a dependent) ill within 24 hours of your session, we will work with you to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
Thank you for helping us all stay healthy!
