Lauren Smith is a Licensed Acupuncturist (Lic. Ac.) in the state of Massachusetts, as well as a board-certified member of the NCCAOM. She enjoys practicing Japanese and Chinese acupuncture styles. From a young age, Lauren saw the impact that acupuncture had on loved ones, and how it enabled them to lead better, healthier lives. Her mother turned to acupuncture for help with migraines when she was 11, and Lauren saw the benefits of acupuncture firsthand. She was inspired from that time to get involved with holistic medicine. In 2011, she graduated from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, with a Bachelor of Science in Holistic Psychology. She immediately enrolled at the New England School of Acupuncture, where she graduated in 2014, with a Master’s degree in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture. Since graduating, Lauren has continued at her school as a teacher’s assistant, and has helped teach courses in: structural anatomy, point location, and Japanese acupuncture strategies. She enjoys helping students learn and develop the fundamental skills they will need in order to become skillful acupuncturists. In her acupuncture practice, Lauren treats many conditions, including: anxiety, depression, PMS and pain management. She enjoys teaching patients about the benefits of acupuncture, as well as helping them learn strategies for self care at home to help prolong treatment benefits. Patients have called her compassionate, empathetic, caring and attentive. Lauren is excited to join the KenkoDo collective and to work with the Somerville community.
